Enigne (speedometer to zero) stalls while driving - urgent

Hi,
Today I had a problem:
1.) I drove down the intertate, all of sudden the engine stalled (actually I was the tachometer going to zero and coming back after two secoonds).
2.) The next event was the same symption (tachometer) and this time I had to stop the car on the shoulder. I started the engine and everthing seemed to be fine.
3.) Number two happened more frequently than one (like every fiftheen minutes).
4.) I had to stop an the shoulder and could not start the car (gas was ok - engine was turning, but not starting)
4.1) I could start the engine, but it stalled after about twenty seconds
4.2) Could not start the enginee anymore, called tow truck
The AC and cruise control was switched off. I checked the fuses and they seemed to be ok. Nothing visible, but a wrench stucked under the generator. The shop replaced the alternating brushing last time and maybe somebody left it there ?!?.
Anyhow I will have it in the shop and was wondering wether somebody could help me saving some money. I do not want to spend another ... again.
I really appreciate any answer. I think it must be something which is probably a saab problem. My car is a 1994 - 900S conv .
Thank you very much
Wolf
