The cores for headliners between passive and normal belts are different. You should have found a regular belt core! I just did the conversion for a friend of mine. Did you change out the interior quarter panels, or did you cut slots in them for the belts?
When converting, you also have to use different sun visors.
I also did a passive-belt headliner over the weekend (in my fiance's 89 900 T; the belts actually work! Not for long, I'm sure ;)
Anyway, those rail covers are held on by plastic pop-rivets, 4 in total. 3 across the top, and one on the bottom part of the L.
MAJOR TIP: When cutting out the hole for the sunroof, make sure you leave fabric to stetch over the edge of the sunroof interior in the car. Leave about 3" extra all the way around the sunroof hole. When you install it, pull the fabric over the edge of the sunroof in the body of the car, and tuck the white trim strip over the edge. Then cut off the excess material. This is most easily done with the sunroof out of the car.
Good luck.
Mike
