I just took my engine out for the first time over the weekend. My family thinks I' nuts for taking the ENGINE out of my CAR, you know? But I call tell you that if you're going to change the motor mounts, you probably need to lift the engine up about 3 or 4 inches. It would be a lot easier to take the engine out and replace them then ;) The passengers side one is the easiest to ge to, obviously. The front one is pretty easy also, but you may need to take out the radiator fans to get to it. The drivers side one is basically buried under the engine and manifold and that mass of mechanical stuff in that area. I think that one would be impossible to change without removing the engine.
