Throwout bearing replacement

Bearing went out with very little warning, seemed to be slight sound on clutch application for two days. Suddenly jammed up in the parking lot, luckily.
So, now that I am to the point of having the cover off, tool inserted, etc...can I remove just the throwout bearing with the slave cylinder, or do I have to remove the entire clutch/pressure plate assembly to get it out?
The procedure in Townsend is what I have been going by, plus memory as I was not at home when it happened but had all my tools...
going out of town tomorrow (Thurs) in another car, but want to get on it as soon as I get back...
