OK. Here is the update on the cold idle problem. Thanks for all the help so far.
1. I removed the AIC and cleaned it real good with some carb cleaner.
2. I checked the functioning of AMM (as ref'd in my bentley manual). The wires light up after the engine has been turned off for 4 seconds. I do not know how to test to see if it is 'starting' to go bad. Suggestions?
3. Replaced air filter.
4. Replaced spark plugs.
5. Replaced fuel filter. (boy those banjo nuts were TIGHT!)
6. Prayed to the Saab god before starting.
Still having the same problem. It had sat all day while I tinkered away.
-Still starts up, revs up to about 1500, drops to 300 and dies.
-If I keep the accelerator down, and the rpm @ 2000 for about 1-2 minutes, the problem goes away and it idles at 950rpm.
Learned a lot about the in's and outs of my Saab today. feels good. Hopefully I'll get this problem fixed soon.
Kindest Regards,
Dave Copeland
