I have done several headliners on Saab 900s'. It is not really difficult. You do not have to remove the rear window. What happens to the headliner material is that the foam attached to the headliner seperates, causing the headliner to fall down. You will first have to remove the rear view mirror, the sunvisors, moldings, etc. Once you have removed all these that actually support the headliner, you can carefully let it down onto the seats. I would suggest that you have someone help you support it, as it is very fragile and will break in the middle(it's weakest point)very easily. You then take it out thru the rear hatchback. Now comes the difficult part. Removing the sunroof. The majority of the headliners that I replace have a sagging sunroof liner and must be replaced, or it looks like crap with a new headliner and sagging sunroof liner. The headliner backing is made out of a material that is similar to foam board. Most likely, the backing will have excess foam stuck to it and must be removed before you can glue on the new headliner. This is a very important step, because if you do not remove the old foam, your new headliner will again fall in a few months and you will be back in the same situation. The best way to remove the old foam is with a stiff brush. DO NOT USE A WIREBRUSH, as it will remove to much material from the backing board. Once you have removed all the old foam, you can now spray on the headliner glue. You must do this in cross-patterns to adequately cover the board. Then you must lay out the liner, upside down naturally, and spray the back of the headliner. Let them both sit for approximately 5 minutes before joining them together. Here again you will need a helper to hold the other end of the headliner while you both carefully lay it down onto the headliner backing board. Be careful, once you lay it down it's like contact cement & you will not be able to reposition it. If you don't do it properly, you will end up with all kinds of wrinkles. "ARE YOU WITH ME SO FAR?" Because there are many curves to the backing board, you cannot lay it flat onto the baord, you must start from the middle and gradually form the headliner material to the board. That's the easy part. Now i've run out of space. By the way, I live in Cincinnati.
