You have all the facts!! The front mount can be easily checked. Unbolt the U-shaped bracket above the mount so you can see what's going on. Sometimes the splits will be easily visible, but often the splits will be hidden unless you torquing the drivetrain. Have a helper put the car in first with the e-brake on and partially release the clutch (very gradually), just enough to torque the drive train. If the front mount is split, you will see the engine lift and the splits in the rubber open up.
The LH mount is hard to check without removal, but as you have learned, it does not usually go bad. I replaced one that turned out to be in good shape, because I was doing all three. To get at it, you have to unbolt and set aside the A/C compressor, unbolt the alternator, remove the oil filter, unbolt the engine mount bracket, remove the big horizontal bolt, and then remove the mount with engine jacked up a bit. I would only replace this mount, if you were replacing the alternator bushings at the same time or had to pull the engine.
