A couple days ago I washed the engine of my 88 900S and drove it home no problems. Then a few hours later I went to start it and the engine began to hesitate. I figured that it was just water in the distributor and/or electrical connections. So I dried out the various parts with a compressor, started it up and still the engine would stall when I press the accelerator. The engine seems to be running too rich, the exhaust smell like gas. So then I went through the tedious task of checking for vacuum leaks. I checked them all (I think), that didnt work. Replaced the spark plugs. That didnt work. Changed the ignition wires. That didnt work. Replaced the AMM. That didnt work. Replaced the Oxygen Sensor. Replaced the Idle Control Valve. That didnt work. Switched the fuel injectors. Still didnt work. Switched the Fuel Pressure regulator. That didnt work.

I am running out of ideas. The car does seem to run fine at high RPMs but between 1000 and 2500 RPM the engine hesitates. A couple things it could be is: Fuel filter; Catalytic converter; Hall Effect Sensor and/or Distributor. I dont know much about the Hall Effect Sensor but I do know that it is pretty important. What else could it be?

The car is 150 miles shy of 200,000. I just drove it 300 miles this past weekend. Help save my Saab! Thanks. -Glock
