I though it would be nice to post a solved problem in the event that anyone else has or will in the future have a similar one...
I posted a while back about an idle problem I was having with my '88 900 8V w/CIS. The idle was taking a dive after starting and then recovering and the car was sluggish under 2K RPM and the intake manifold vacuum was low. Part of the problem was the mixture was WAY WAY too rich. 6.5% CO was coming out the tail. Evidently one mechanic's solution for fixing vacuum leaks is to just richen the mixture! The computer was compensating for this giving a "12%" reading on the "Bosch" meter elec. connector by the fuse/relay box (reading should be around 50%). Another part of the problem was the AIC occasionally sticking shut. Now, after replacing a weak oxy sensor, the idle is rough and the computer is bouncing around trying to compensate lean/rich/lean/rich/lean/rich which is rather annoying, but the car does run much better now!!
