I'd have the trans serviced by a good independent...preferably one who can power flush the trans or at least drop the pan and clean it, adjust the band(s) and clean the governor/plunger, and flush the reassembled pan/trans using the trans cooler line with about 10-15 quarts of the new Amsoil high perf ATF (the regular amsoil ATF is qualified as type F but I understand the higher 'sticktion' type ATF works better in Type F fluid transmissions).
As for your a/c, it's not unlikely that you dislodged a wire somewhere..my first guess would be the engine overheat a/c cutoff...look at the two wires (what, you only have one? Eureka!) going to the metal sleeve/switch in the upper radiator hose between the engine and the radiator. If the wire is broke or disconnected, the compressor won't run (although the cooling fan(s) will so that's another check...)
