I have an '85 900T 16V, my wiring harness with the exceptioon of the stub out at the thermo switch in the top Rad. hose is perfect, I redid my brake M.C. last year, at about 200,000 miles, all wire in bundles wrapped around M.C. were OK, all wire visible in trunk and engine compartment is good as is the wire in space below back seat and under dash. I believe wiring problem in '85's is a function of when they were assembled, mine was done in early February. I believe the '85's, with the exception of the wiring harness were the last of the "good" years of the OG900, I have not experienced any of the problems reported by owners of '86-up. Car has 208,900 miles, normal maintenance, achieves 29-30 MPG at freeway speeds, gives the same turbo boost as when new, does not burn oil (dino oil since new, about 6000-7000 mile change interval) had a pinion bearing replaced about 120,000 miles, and continues to be a dependable road car. I did have an ignition amplfier go out about 5 years ago, I carry a spare.
Look her over very carefully, but if the turbo is good, and the engine doesn't use oil, brakes are easily dealt with.
Good fortune
Ray
