I also had the infamous clunking or thumping sound from drivers side rear. I was about to invest in bushings and shocks and even checked out the antenna in the down position with radio off as it sounded like a clanging inside the quarter panel. I FOUND MY PROBLEM AND IT WAS THE REAR PACKAGE SHELF. The front edge of the shelf is hooked over a steel rod and each end of rod rests on top of steel brackets that the seat latch locks into. Put the back seat down and bang on the shelf. With tape and sponge I was able to eliminate most of it to my amazement and I find putting a heavy book on the shelf eliminated the rest of it. I could have sworn it was in the suspension or inside the quarter panel. My shelf is twisted and distorted from the sun. Try it and you might be surprised.
