Regardless, I would go for the car in the best condition. burlyb is right in that the 2.1L engine in the 'S' convertible MAY give you a head gasket problem. Go to the shop that serviced it and ask to see the maintenance records and see if it has had regular coolant changes (every 1-2 yrs) and if it has the lower temp thermostat and fan switch installed (82 decC vs. 87degC) and if the modification to have BOTH fans run with the fan switch has been performed. If these have been done, the 2.1L can be a good engine for you. If not, have them done as the engine only has 30k on it. This would not be a high cost repair. I am leaning towards the '92 because it has been maintained, looks nicer and everything works. A/C repairs could cost quite a lot (>1000) and the auto in the turbo is not a very good combination (weak, poor performance and a shorter life expectancy) and these factors count against the '90 in my book. The 2.1L is pretty spritely, actually and is a good motor.
