A few years ago I drove my 86 900t down the shore(90 miles). The car ran great the entire trip. The next day, when I started the car to leave, the oil light stayed on. My first thought was the wire. That was fine, so I removed the valve cover, and the lifter oiling lines. Sure enough, when my wife cranked the engine there was no oil coming up to the head. I got a ride home with a friend. The next weekend I brought my truck and trailer up to tow the car home. I started the SAAB, and it HAD oil pressure, but I towed it home anyway. When I got home, it once again was without oil pressure. After closer investigation, the lower timing gear had somehow lost a couple teeth which scored up the oil pump and timing cover then clogged up the relief valve. I decided to replace the engine, as a used low milage 16 valve turbo engine was much less money then a oil pump, timing cover timing gear and chain.
Hope this isn't your situation.
