My 89 900 FAILED CO emissions test here in Portland, Or a few months back.
I set an appointment to have a Saab shop take a look at it.
Since the appt. was a few days away, I took it back to DEQ to test again the very next day just for the heck of it. Not sure how it is in your state, but in Oregon, if you fail, you don't pay anything.
I didn't do ANYTHING to the car and drove it the same distance to the test as the day before and to my surprise, it passed! I paid my fee, went home, and cancelled the appt. at the Saab shop.
Only thing different I did was on the day it failed, my gas was almost on empty. The day it passed, I filled it up with gas. Not sure if this made any difference. Anyways, you might want to retest it before you spend any money. Maybe drive it around for a while before the test and fill it up with gas.
