putting radio down low, random toughts....

almost completed my radio relocation. The radio needs to go down to the lower slot so that I can put some gauges in the upper slot. And the facia, of course, needs some TLC
Some things I've noticed:
1)the power supply and the upper speaker wires will not reach. I was able to rebuild the speaker cable with new connector pins from radio shack. The radio end of the power cable would reach. So I pulled it up verses making a new one. All other cables will terminate in the console, pulled down from the OEM position. Poor guy who gets my car next is going to be very confused.
2)picture frame wire makes a great wire snake. All the cables were routed close to the fire wall. I used both sides.
3)found two pair of grey patch cables which lead under the carpet to places unknown.
4) I am yet again having to rebuild the broken tabs on the dash facia. That makes three in less than a year. I am REALLY good at getting the dash off.
5)removing both speakers helped alot
6)removing the knee boolster and vent dist. are neccessary
7)you will have to cut wire ties
8)I found the left side vent melted where it meets the facia/deflector, I blame the desert heat there!
9)I found the ass end of the lower cargo bin melted, did the EQ do this?
Somesay I'll get a digital camera, and someday.....
The radio, I think is happy, and now bring on the gauges.
1. boost/vacuum
2. oil pressure
3. ???
