It could be a few things. I'd start with the swtich. If the contacts get dirty, the switch won't pass enough current for the motor to move. The easiest way to check it is to swap the connector on the driver's window switch with a known good switch - no need to move the switches, just move the connectors. Of course, you need to pull up the switchplate with the window switches. If the switch is bad, pop it open and clean the contacts with some Scotchbrite or fine sandpaper. In the worst case you won't be able to get the switch back together, or all the parts will go flying (there are springs in there) - but then again, the switch was bad to start with, no?
If swapping the switch connector doesn't do it, listen VERY carefully as you hit the window switch. Any noise from the door? A hum, a grunt of a motor trying to turn? If so, you will want to remove the door panel and look in. Chances are the window just slipped off the track.
