The dealer trim piece comes with grease in the fold. I assume they put it in there to prevent rust on the fender lip. I replaced all four on my spg without heating or anything. WIth my '87 spg panels on I had to cut the trim since they were too long. What I did was lay the new piece on the ground and use a string to get the length of the old one. THen cut new one the same length and shove it on the fender lip. You work a few inches at a time. If the underside catches on the fender so you can't press it on, reach in and pull it out a bit. Then continue pushing it on the lip. The trim itself is like a clip and holds itself on the fender. THis assumes you bought it at the dealer and it's the same trim piece. I believe they only sell one.
