The deal sounds legally complete to me. Overhere in Europe it would be for sure. My advice: send him an e-mail, ask for HIS address, so you can send the plates, and tell him that to you the deal is final. No swapping of parts etc. I mean, what's done is done, isn't it? After all, that's what you want, you want the car and no more hassling. You have a legal right to it, the car is decidedly yours, and that's about all. You're going to drive it too, you need it to be complete. I mean, it's nonsense from the start, to ask some one parts from a car you just sold to him!! I don't want to judge some one on hearsay from five thousand miles away, but 'weird' sounds like a kind word to me! It also sounds like you're going to have to tell him. That's a bit nasty, it might give you a guilty feeling, but there's no need, as far as I can see. Some people just won't let off until you tell them.
Good luck!
