Hi folks,

After spending two entire weekends disassembling the interior of the '94 CV to replace the dreaded heater control valve & clean up the damage, I though I'd pass along a few hints that might save some of you some $$ from my lessons learned the "hard way".

1) If you have 2" of antifreeze in the rear floorpan, don't run out & buy a HCV, go to the hardware store & buy 2 O rings (get 4 while you're at it).
My HCV will never go bad again (because I have a brand new one on the shelf now). It's right at home w/ 10 years of other parts I've bought for the '94 CV or the '87 9000 only to find out it's something minor/else.

2) While you have the knee bolster out, ask around to see if anyone wants to buy one, or would like a free one. That has to be right up there with the chastity belt as one of the all time barricades to getting at something that needs attention.

3) Replace every vacuum line you see while you're in there.

4) The Bentley manual makes a good paperweight.

5) The wobble in your steering wheel is because the $22 plastic bearing race, (yes, I did say plastic) has disintegrated into dust. You wouldn't believe the design of the bearing assy where the column comes through the dash. A screw top from a pepsi bottle is the same size & $21.xx cheaper.

6) Don't unplug the airbag unless you want to spend the rest of your life looking at SRS in red. I got the whole thing disassembled w/o unplugging it & it disconnected when the wheel fell off the seat.

7) Don't use much soap to clean the carpet and the foam padding under the carpet unless you're using the neighbor's or the landlord's hose.

8) Go get the beer BEFORE you tear the car apart

I think the autowokers of Sweeden & Finland have found in us the perpetual source of funding their pension funds...
