No need to remove the heater core to replace the HCV. Some people claim to have removed it through the speaker opening. I found it impossible. Either my hands are too big or too clumsy. I removed the knee bolster and the front driver seat and laid on my back to do it. Four screws to remove and install if I remember correctly. Very tight. The front driver seat is very easy to remove. Only two bolts in the front.
