Hey
Answer to the first question is on your distribution block in the back should be a block that has an end where the power wire off the battery goes in and on the other end have a bunch of other holes for the wires going to the amp. There should be fuses in the middle for each line there is going to each amp. This is the proper way. you can do it with out but you will end up blowing the fuse off the battery more often because of power overload. The rating of 300 watts at 4 ohms is the rating that you shouldn't be running a sub or subs that are rated for over that. So what ever you are pushing with that amp which would have to be a sub shouldn't be rated for over 300 or the sub will create bad BASS and no one wants that and it ends up being a waste of money. Hope I answered everything. If you don't understand and need more info e-mail me at lippoldd@yahoo.com
