Definitely not normal, there should be plenty of power in a 900S.
It sounds like its running lean (or it's not getting sufficient gas through the injectors) if it bogs when you hit the gas pedal.
A few things to check - it's not all-inclusive, but these are places to start:
How are plugs, cap, rotor, and spark plug wires?
Are all of the vacuum hoses and rubber bushings where they go into the intake manifold and valve cover good, and is the oil filler cap sealing properly? Any leaks around the valve cover gasket?
You may have an old, plugging fuel filter.
And, in the worst case, you may have a failing or out-of-calibration Air Mass Meter.
