Have you considered a worn lower shock bushing or sway bar bushing (if you have sways)? When you hit a bump does it clunk or squeak. A bj will clunk. I did all four this past weekend and having the wheel assembly offloaded (via the proceedure for replacing the bj's) gave me the opportunity to wiggle and shake all the bits and pieces down there. I verified the loose bj and replaced them all since i had them. Squeaks are generally bushings.
Have the shop check for a squeak. Don't say "replace the balljoint". A lesson I learned the hard way, being a know it all.
you don't want to go forever on a worn balljoint but I think it takes alot of neglect to cause one to snap.
parking ones SAAB outside does not, AFAIK, create squeaks or maintenance issues either ;) But then again you never know...
