Well, I'm motoring up the road this morning in my beatiful cherry red 900S hatchback, minding my own business and enjoying life. The birds are chirping and all that jazz. I come around a turn, and right in front of me is a huge rock, probably about eight inches in diameter. I swerve, but it catches under the passanger's seat and clunks along the length of the car. When I get home, I inspect the damage. The rear passenger floorpan is buckled up, inside out, so the passenger's side rear floor is actually higher than the center hump. I kick the floorpan back into place with a fair amount of swearing, and realize that mom's going to be home soon, and I'm parked in her spot in the driveway. I move the car to where it is always parked and get out, to see a large oil spot under where I was just parked. I look underneath the car and see what looks like a drop of oil hanging from the transmission skidplate. Figuring it's hot down there, I use my Saab key to see if it's motor oil, and it is. I throw the keys on the passanger's seat, and pop the hood to check the oil. The level has dropped quite a bit since I checked it yesterday. I hope this is because the car is parked on a hill, and get in to turn the car around and see if the level changes. Picking up the keys off the seat, I find a dime sized oil spot under neath them. Swearing some more, I start the car to turn it around. Now that the car is facing downhill, it becomes apparent that I didn't completely close the hood. It flies forward, jerking against the hinges. More Swearing. I jerk up the handbrake handle and run out to check the hood. Now it won't close right. More Swearing. I walk back to park the car, and find my handbrake handle stuck in the up position with the release button completely sticking out the end. Oh, you bet, more swearing. So, half an hour ago, I had a cherry Classic 900S and no worries. No, I have an oil leaking 900S with a stain on the seat, and a broken hood, stuck at the top of my driveway because I can't get the handbrake disengaged.

This leads to my question, does anybody know how to fix a handbrake stuck in the up position with the release button sticking out of the end?
