Did you check for chafed wires? On my '85, the driver's side rear taillight assembly had a problem I didn't know about until I removed it for some bodywork. The parking light for the left side would blow fuses whenever turned on, and *instantly*. Same for the reverse lights/lighter socket fuse. When I had the light assembly totally out, I noticed that where the wires feed up and make the turn towards the light assembly, they were apparently too short and were forced into the V-shape where the sheetmetal comes together, which wore through the insulation and shorted them. Electrical tape and everything works now.
