I just took the windshield out of my '87 parts car. If you dont mind ripping up the weatherstripping thing that the windshield sits in, then taking it out is pretty easy. Just get a razor blade and cut the outside of the rubber seal thing enough that you can pull it off in strips. Basically, you make a notch about 2 inches long, then rip the rest off once you get it started. Very straight forward. Once you get the outer part of the seal off, the windshield is basically stuck on there with sealant/glue type stuff. Just take a screw driver with you to help pry under the windshield and give it a boost up off the scummy sealant. It wil lift right off, and its a great feeling, believe me! I tok the windshield off, set it on the deck, and cleaned if off with some dish soap. It looks great! I will probably pay someone to install it though when/if I ever need it. The seal that holds the windshield in is $120 at a Saab dealer, or you can use an aftermarket one that the windshield guys use which may not look right, but will be cheaper. I think the install labor cost would be around $100, so basically youre looking at somewhere in the $200 range to get this fixed. If you want to try and use the seal from the old windshield, you are going to need some kind of special tool to get the windshield off with the seal intact, but I think this would be very hard to do without cracking the windshield.
