What Jim isn't saying is that there were only 4 cars in that class! Ha!

When I arrived Saturday morning, someone asked me if I was going to participate in the Concourse... a sort of Saab beauty pageant with a panel of judges awarding prizes to the cars in each category. Someone laughingly pointed out that there was only one car in the modified category, so if I drove my Beastie over there, the worst I could do was second place. It seemed funny to me at the time, but I thought, what the heck? I'll do it for grins.

So I drove it around the corner to a parking lot where hoses were provided, and washed it off a little. There really wasn't any way to get it super-clean, but Castrol provided little spritz bottles of shiny tire stuff, so I sprayed some on. Then I brought it back to the Concourse. When I arrived, I was a little surprised to find there were now four cars in the Modified category, including my Beastie. I wondered if there'd be a prize for fourth place, and really didn't figure to win anything.

The first prize went to that red '95 900 with the Sensonic transmission, and second place in the category went to the striking restored Sonnett I mentioned in my previous post. Both were absolutely gorgeous, and I don't know how the judges decided which was first and which was second! Beastie was a DISTANT third place, to be sure, there only by virtue of being one of two cars left in the category.

After the judging, I moved Beastie over to the SPG9 tent so that Mike could show people what some of their products looked like installed in my car. It turned out to be a lousy parking spot, because when it rained later after lunch, it was in the middle of a lake. That shiny tire stuff washes off, by the way....

Jim tells me I won a T-shirt and a plaque, and they'll be mailing it to me. I'll put the plaque up in the Garage Mahal in front of Beastie's parking spot... I guess it has a right to feel a bit proud!
