While you're checking the Hall sensor plug, pop the distributor cap and check the rotor for burned spots, then regap your plugs to .024-.028 or replace with NGK BCP7ES or BCP7EV. My guess is that your plug gap has eroded over time to >.035. Also check your intake plumbing for leaks and your turbo plumbing for a split hose that opens up under boost.
Check the resistance of your plug wires(spec in Bentley manual-1000 ohms???) and replace with Bougicord if uneven or greater than spec. Check O2 sensor for voltage swing from .2-.8 volts when connected.
If basic tune up stuff does not solve problem, and you have noticed poor startup idle, then it might be time for a new Air Mass Meter. Best way to test is with a known good one from another car, part number should end in 005.
