If you really do think its worth your time, DEFINANTLY get it checked out by a saab mechanic! After my 87 SPG was rearended I was desperatly looking for a replacement. I found a 91 black SPG down in Cincinatti (next years soc, YEA BABY!) & wanted it really really badly. The body looked perfect & they claimed no accidents & the car was priced at what it was worth. So I spent my $100 for Just Saab to do a once over & I was sooo glad I did. The mechanic pointed out a few spots where it's had new sheet metal on as well as a few other issues where the seller denied it untill I asked him specifically, so I walked :o)
So, the 200K miles don't scare me on the car but if you want to tweek it then the miles do. What I would do is call some wrecking yards & see if they have a low mile motor to throw in & then you would have a great basis for power upgrades.
If you think it's worth your time get it looked at!
