Recently purchased 900TC '92 has the door lock off/on switch on the console. When the driver's door is open and the switch is pressed the passenger door and the trunk lock or unlock as appropriate. The driver's door must be locked/unlocked by key unless it happens to be closed when the switch is pressed. When the key is used to unlock either door, the remaining locks don't respond ala central locking.
As I am new to this car, though I have a '92 900S 3 door with properly functioning CLS, I'd like to know if my 900TC is functioning properly or if there's something I should check out/repair to get it to do so.
Additionally, this car came w/o the remote alarm switch; previous owner didn't have it either. Is this switch/system something worthwhile? Is it smart to get a used one from a junk yard? Is there some kind of code chip which must be gotten from a dealer? Is it worth the expense?
