37,000 miles? Not bad at all.

That 4k RPM at 80 is normal. They had to compensate for the losses in the auto trans (and using normal BW37 internal gearing) by upping the rpms in 3rd gear. 4k is well below redline, so it's not damaging anything - it's just noisy.

You experienced turbo lag. It takes a bit for the turbo to spool up when you punch the gas. The dymanics of a turbocharger have 2 things going that make the time lag: at low RPMs, you're not producing a lot of exhaust gasses (these drive the turbo) and the turbine/compressor has enough friction and inertia so that it takes a bit of time to bring it up to speed to produce the pressure and flow you need for a horsepower/torque spurt.

That coupled with the lower compression of a turbo engine give it a not-so-impressive low end.

Just the nature of the beast. At highway speeds, they have great acceleration.

You should have transmission kickdown when you punch the gas, though. Someone else may be able to help you with that.
