its less than 3mm wall thickness, and it was strong enough for me to man handle it while I dremeled the AMM/filter hole and lowered the sides to match the hood insulation. I've closed the hood on it a dozen times, nothing, but then it barely touches it.
The D-seal that is only on the back half will eventually extend all around. I asked for a 5ft sample they sent a 3ft, doh....
heat exchange wise, pretty good. I left it out in the sun Sat. (in AZ that means 140F) and the outside was hot but not the inside.
the main benefits as I see them:
1)opens up behind the IC, more air flow thru IC
2)weighs less (need to weigh)
3)higher flow rates (need to test)
4)less filter area?????
5)zero mods to car, no cutting, no drilling, take out old put in new
6)no heat transfer, although the stock system was pretty good I think
7)allows me to play with carbon fiber molds/wet-lay-ups
Only time and a chassis dyno will tell if its worth anything!

ps - dave n, sheetmetal is your friend! ;-D
