It is said that you don't need to retorque, but why take chances? My mechanics always do so when they do a head gasket job. At any rate, it takes 20 minutes and some elbow grease to do the retorque.
What I did was torque them up to spec, fired up the engine and let it warm up until the fans cycled. Let it cool down about an hour, then retorqued each bolt. I did them in the proper sequence, middle of the head, clockwise. Did all of them to 45, then 60, then a further 90 degrees after that.
