I like patprice's post, it boils the C900/More Horsepower balance down to it's essentials.
More Hp can overstress an old head gasket. But the worst problem with more Hp is that it overstresses an old, worn, and sadly undersized pinion bearing in the transmission. The transmission problem is far more expensive to bring back to spec than a head gasket.
IIRC, the transmission will last nearly forever in a c900 with a non-turbo 8-valve engine. The 115 Hp is at the outside of the design capacity of the transmission. It's marginal, as far as long-term life, with 165 Hp from a 900T.
It's fun but can be costly.
