You have a leak in the fuel system. When you run the car, the fuel pump pressurizes the fuel system to about 60 psi, and that has found a hole somewhere in the system.
DON'T DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL YOU FIND THE PROBLEM!!! Fuel is being sprayed around the engine compartment, and it will find something hot. What happens next makes for great footage on the local TV news.
It shouldn't be that hard to tell where the fuel is coming from. Follow the drips UP. My guess would be a pinhole leak in a fuel line, or a loose connection, possibly at the fuel filter or fuel rail. A repair is simple to do at home, but only after you find the leak.
Is the fuel leaking at the front or rear of the car? What year car is it?
If it's too hard to find the leak, then call a tow truck and have it towed to a shop.
