I think the main point of the law is don't try to sell your car without telling the buyer what the REAL mileage is. Since I'll never sell my spg it doesn't matter that I'm on my third odometer/speedo. The shaft that holds the odometer numbers is crimped at each end. WHat you do is scrape the crimped part off so you can slide the shaft out. Then you can turn each digit to zero and put them back on the shaft as you slide it back in. It takes steady hands and plenty of patience. I did this to my old one to see if I could but never used it.
