I spent several hours on this sucker. It's a lot easier if you have the new one in front of you, so you know the location of the release button, how to depress it, etc.
OK, take out the driver's seat.
If you look at the assembly from the driver's side at floor level, you will notice a soft metal plug (it is differently colored from the stainless steel housing).
You drill out the plug with a 1/8" drill. Insert a 1/8" punch which will depress a button on the side of the ignition cylinder as you turn the key maybe 5 degrees, allowing it to be pulled out.
If it's the original, which mine was, there will also be tons of gunk. I had to haul mine out with a big pair of vice grips. Then spray it down with WD 40, wipe out the gunk and insert the new cylinder.
Be deliberate, yet careful, because if you screw it up, you have to take out the entire shifter/ignition assembly.
It all definately makes you wonder how anyone could manage to steal a Saab.
Good luck,
Skippy
