More ignition trouble

Hello everyone,
This week I had a time with my old 1985 Saab Turbo 900. My ignition switch wouldn't turn, so I called my local dealer (in Billings Montana, 130 miles away) and got a new tumbler. I took out the driver's seat, located the metal plug and drilled it out. Then I stuck my punch in there, voila, the old tumbler came out. I cleaned all the gunk out of the hole where the tumbler had been with WD40, popped in the new one and heard the pin snap in place. When I tried to turn the new key, it did the same thing as the one before and didn't move. So I popped the new one out again and now the pin is stuck and the key won't move with the tumbler out of there (it's now soaking in WD40)... Once I cleaned out the old one with WD40 and had it out of there, it is now moving. Of course it's all boogered up since I was prying on it with vice grips...
So I must have something else going on. I can feel a little something underneath the tumbler hole, some sort of lever or something. Should I do something with it when I put in the new tumbler?
Clueless in Wyoming,
Jim
