Hey guys, haven't posted in a long time cause my '85 900t has been runnning well the last couple months. Today, however, when I started out, I felt a kind of a lack of grunt in first gear. There was also an off and on screaching sound. Shifting was fine though. Anyways, I parked the car, and when pulling out in reverse the tranny seemed to seize up. The car came to a dead stop and I couldn't shift out of gear. I turned off the ignition and restarted it. Everything seemed fine again. On my drive back home, I had no problems with shifting or any noises. I was able to engage reverse and back up with no problem. Someone suggested that it might be the pinion gear and the tranny's about to go. If this is so, why was my drive back smooth and uneventful. I checked the tranny oil, and it was nice and clean with no metal bits or anything. Any thoughts? I'm a college student who probably can't afford a tranny job.But I love my Saab. TIA.
