So, you hit the turn signal, and the lights just glow, no flash?
Welcome to the wonderful world of bad tail light grounds. Bad tail light grounds come as standard equipment on all 900's, especially hatchbacks.
Power is supposed to flow from the turn signal switch, through the turn signal relay,, through the light bulbs, and to ground. The 'flashing' function of the turn signal relay depends on the proper current flow. That's why if one turn signal bulb is out, the remaining one flashes faster.
If the ground wire for the light cluster is bad, the current finds a different way to ground. It will flow up through a different bulb, and create all sorts of other havoc. You'll see the turn signals work differently if the parking lights or brake lights are on, that sort of thing.
See the FAQs on bad tailight grounds:

The Townsend site (http://www.townsendimports.com) has an extensive writeup - go to the Technical Documents section, and look under Electrical. (I'd give you the direct link, but the site is slow right now).
Good luck
