Kevin:
I'm thinking of adding a set of Intrax springs and Boge shocks (OEM as I recall) on my '84 900T. Does this setup sound like a winner? Koni/Bilstein are rather expensive and I've noted many postings that those are too stiff anyway. Intrax will be a bit firmer but not so stiff as to make buckboard ride.
Also tires. I'm looking at Pirelli P6000 in 205/60/15 (H or V rating). Any other suggestions on this? Daily driver in San Fran area so wet but no snow.
But the real reason I'm writing is for this. My '84 900T has a Group 6 APC box, an intercooler (I added last winter) Nology wires, fresh plugs. Last weekend I spent the Sat. with Mike & Dave at SPG9, where we cleaned the injectors, replaced the two grommets on the intake manifold (old ones were petrified), added an AID (Dave had to grind it for clearance but it fit), and gave the CIS a re-setup. The problem is the car won't run properly under high boost (both before and after the maintenance). Mike mapped the timing with surprising results. Seems the centrifical advance allowed 18 deg advance, and the vacuum unit allows another 16 deg. When added to the base timing of 13 deg (at idle) there is way too much total advance. AID allows 13 deg retard. Syptom is that when boost reaches into the red zone the car stops pulling, sometimes backfires, and generally falls all over itself. I've read your notes on ignition and am curious if you have any thoughts on this. Fuel shutoff switch has been bridged. We pulled another distributor and it also exibited same advance characteristics.
