Could be Air Mass Meter. Symptoms included broad swings in idle and occasional stalling. When O2 sensor heats up and takes over, idle settles down. Other AMM symptoms as it gets worse include hesitation and general driveability isues even when hot.
A vacuum leak will usually cause a high idle all the time unless it seals up when hot(not likely, but still possible). Try unlit propane around injectors to see if idle goes up indicating leaking orings that might somehow be loose when cold but seal up when hot??? Do this at all vacuum seals and hoses when problem is occuring.
Check the resistance on your temp sensor under intake runners(forget specs - check Bentley or maybe Townsend) Resistance should be higher when cold...wild guess 2500ohms.
Clean all grounds to shiny bright, clean AIC, AMM and temp sensor elec connectors. Check throttle position switch for click just off idle and continuity between center and one of the outside pins at idle and continuity between center and the other outside pin at WOT.
Have you replaced dist cap, rotor and plugs lately?
