Look again at that plug on top of your AIC. There should be a little metal wire-like clip on it... you squeeze that and then it releases the plug. You can't just yank 'em off without breaking them, so it's a good thing you didn't resort to brute force. Examine the plug carefully and you'll figure it out.
As for the TB, I usually just remove the hose off the front of it and spray inside without taking it off the car. Use an old toothbrush or something in there and do the best you can. A rag stuffed down below will catch the drippings if you're concerned about that, but make sure you leave the rag someplace where it won't ignite or suffocate someone later.
And as far as the chemicals -- why take the chance? My advice would be to take the stuff you bought back for a refund and buy something (they all cost about the same) that says it's okay for fuel injected engines. There are lots of brands out there that are made just for doing what you're doing.
