Kevin, I was reading your posts on SPG springs and shocks. I recently got a set of SPG springs from an '89. They were marked gold and the number of turns matched with David Prandtl's info. I am a bit confused about what the differences are with the SPG vs normal OE shocks. Some posts state that the SPG shocks are 'softer' to accomodate the stiffer spring. This sounds conuter to me. A stiffer spring and the same unspring mass should require a stiffer shock especially at high velocities. Am I mistaken here? A smaller low speed bleed will increase low speed stiffness and give better control of the sprung mass. On a more subjective note, is the SPG harsh? I've never driven one. Mine is a '92T. I have ridden in GM's 87 SPG with intrax/KYB and thought it felt firm but not harsh. Just looking for an opinion. Oh, yes. Your 'shock with the high speed lock was probably due to some clogged passages in the piston. Something either wore to shards or something came loose and clogged. I would have loved to cut it apart to see what exactly happened.
