There are two methods.... Posted by Dana [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: How do you remove ignition tumbler?, Andymac, Sat, 15 Sep 2001 01:41:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1. If you have a key....insert key and turn to half way position between "lock" L position and "garage" G position (aux equipment on position). Insert a pushwire into dowel pin hole at bottom of gear lever housing...located just behind the tumbler circular housing...while pushing in the dowel pin in that hole pull out key tumbler with key.
2. If you do not have a key....remove drivers seat and center console plastic cover. Drill out carefully (not too deep) the plug covering the hole for the lock cylinder dowel in the lever housing. This is located on the side of the lever housing at approximately the 7 o-clock position (looking down and forward) to the key housing positon. Once the plug to the hole has been drilled out
use a 2mm drift (.080 inch) to punch in the dowel pin which is under the plug. This method will destroy the old tumbler but the tumbler can now be just pull out of the housing....
