John, I reciently had a alternator changed for the 2nd time under load it would not produce correct voltage at 800 rpm while at idle However, w/ mechanic checked volts at 1000 rpm it brought volts up, so he adjusted set screw 1000 rpm. I'm not sure why but rpm started to fluctuate from 1000 to over 1500 rpm when power load changed perhaps it confused the engine management box ?? we then re set idle screw back to 800 rpm and problem cleared! hope this helps.
