High Idle fixed? I think so...

Hi,
My just-bought '90 900s was idling around 2000 rpm. I had a bad experience with a mechanic in town, so I thought I'd look at it myself. I ended up adjusting the idle to its normal setting, and it seems to work fine. When I turn on the AC, lights, radio, etc, the idle adjusts for that and remains constant.
Does it sound like the problem might have been just having been set too high?
Thanks,
Brian
