I would not fall totally into thinking it is the mounts. It is definitly the first spot to start, but I have been experienceing the same thing. In 4th and 3rd, the shifter vibrates in ratio to engine speed. I have replaced the pass side mount, it was easy, but it was only worn about 1/4". The front and driver sides are fine. I have been considering intalling new shifter bushings etc.. and seeing if it makes a difference. For $15, I have no problem trying it...
Good Luck, and keep us posted!
