Yes, you got ripped off. The part is inexpensive... it is made my Fairchild Semiconductor (with a Bosch name on it) and can usually be gotten for less than $100. The replacement takes about 3 minutes. With his discount, the mechanic probably got the part for $70, and his labor time for diagnosis and replacement couldn't have been more than 15 minutes.
If you put the charge on a credit card, send a letter to the credit card company claiming a fradulent charge, and refuse to pay it. Send the mechanic a copy of the letter.
I did this when a mechanic charged me $140 to mount and balance 3 tires (and I supplied the tires!). I refused to pay the charge, and offered a generous $20 per tire, or $60. He accepted.
